MLRR is an all volunteer,
non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for unwanted or abandoned
Labrador Retrievers. All rescued Labs are placed in foster homes where they can be evaluated
for temperament and level of training before being adopted.
MLRR currently serves the city of Chicago and its suburbs (Illinois only, we do not adopt out of state).
Due to our limited number of volunteers, we cannot adopt dogs to people who live outside of this area.

ADOPTED!!!!! Meet Drake - Looking to go from Foster to Forever!
Hi Everyone, my name is Drake. I'm a 3-4 year old Black Lab and my foster mom says I’m the perfect size, weighing in around 55lbs. I love to get attention and if I don’t think you’ve petted me long enough I will let you know by nudging you with my nose. I also nudge your feet, as I’m not opposed to a good foot pet either. I am very good at eating and taking treats, even from the 9 year old little girl that I live with. I also let her and, anyone really, take toys, bones and food away from me without any problems. I get along great with kids of all ages as I don't jump and I love my canine foster dog brother too. We wrestle a lot and run around. During the day when my foster family is away I go into my crate but they've been leaving me out for longer periods of time and I've done GREAT. At night I sleep upstairs with them, on my own bed.
I underwent treatment for heartworm back in May and I'm now off my restricted activity and I just LOVE going for walks and to doggie daycare to play with all my friends! I also recently spent a week with another foster family while my family was on vacation and they have this thing called a CAT and guess what--I actually liked him-who knew? He pretty much did his own thing as did I, but we laid together in the same room and were pretty relaxed with each other. I did bark at him a few times, but stopped when I was told. So, if you have a cat, we might want to try this out...maybe we can be really good friends! I hope to see you soon.
